Do I need to know which publishing services I need?
Not at all. In fact, that's part of what we're here to help you determine. Every PublishRight project begins with a Publishing Blueprint, where we'll assess your manuscript, learn about your goals, and recommend the editorial, production, and launch support that makes sense for your book.
Do I have to start with the Publishing Blueprint?
Yes. The Publishing Blueprint is the first phase of every new PublishRight project. It gives us the opportunity to understand your manuscript and publishing goals before recommending a larger investment. You'll receive a personalized publishing roadmap, timeline, recommendations, and project estimate—and then you can decide whether you'd like to continue with PublishRight.
Do I have to work with PublishRight for every phase?
No. Your Publishing Blueprint may recommend support across Editorial, Production, and Publication & Launch, but you aren't required to complete every phase with PublishRight. You can move forward with the phases that make sense for you and your book.
How much does it cost to professionally publish a book?
Every project is different. Your investment will depend on factors such as manuscript length, the level of editing required, book formats, design needs, and your publication and launch goals. We've provided typical investment ranges above to help you plan, and your Publishing Blueprint will include a clear project estimate based specifically on your book.
How long does the publishing process take?
Timelines vary depending on your manuscript and the level of support needed. A book requiring multiple rounds of editing will naturally take longer than a publication-ready manuscript moving directly into production. Your Publishing Blueprint will include a recommended timeline so you'll know what to expect before your project begins.
Most authors are with us anywhere from six to nine months.
Will I retain the rights to my book?
Yes. You retain ownership of your work and control over your publishing accounts, copyrights, and royalties. PublishRight provides the professional services and guidance needed to bring your book to market—we do not take ownership of your book or a percentage of your royalties.
Can you help if I've already started the publishing process?
Absolutely. Authors come to PublishRight at different stages. You may already have a professionally edited manuscript, a finished cover, or another piece of your project completed. We'll take that into account when developing your Publishing Blueprint and won't recommend work simply for the sake of repeating something that's already been done well.
